Xiaomi has recently shaken up the smartphone world with the release of its latest series. One thing that makes people wonder when they first see it is its design, which is similar to that of a famous smartphone brand, namely the iPhone. Apple has also recently released its latest series, the iPhone 17. These two smartphone brands have almost identical designs and series names. Although the designs look the same, the features offered by the two are very different.
The discussion about the similar designs has not only sparked various reactions from ordinary gadget users, but has also become a hot topic of conversation among gadget observers from each brand. Some praise Xiaomi for its better design and numerous features while maintaining an affordable price. However, others criticize Xiaomi for lacking innovation in creating new models for future series, resulting in designs that closely imitate Apple's.
Xiaomi is known as one of the
smartphone brands whose designs are sometimes inspired by other brands, one of
which is Apple. Several recent Xiaomi series do indeed look almost identical to
Apple, such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro, which has a camera design similar
to the iPhone 14. Then, the newly released Xiaomi 17 appeared, with an
appearance even more similar to the iPhone 17, from the camera layout to the
shape of the smartphone itself. The controversy surrounding this design has
shaken the smartphone world, provoking various reactions from users.
Xiaomi combines
innovative elements that Apple does not have, namely the use of a small screen
on the back, known as the Magic Back Screen. In addition to taking photos,
there is a multifunctional small screen on the back. This screen allows users
to view notifications, control music, and take selfies. These features contrast
sharply with those offered by Apple. In the iPhone 17 series, there is no
screen on the back of the smartphone like the one on the Xiaomi 17. Although
the designs are similar, they each have their own unique features.
This almost identical design has created mixed reactions in the market. Many consumers like the design launched by Xiaomi. Consumers are not worried about the excessive selling price and have gotten other cool features in one smartphone. Some believe that the innovations introduced by Xiaomi are bold in terms of design and features. Others argue that even though the design is similar and the features are more advanced, they prefer to use the Apple brand.
Meanwhile, Apple has not been silent either. They have created new features that are no less sophisticated, such as iOS 26, whose features also adapt from popular Android features. Both Apple and Xiaomi are competing to launch attractive designs and features to attract new consumers and win their attention. The competition in smartphone design shows that competition in the smartphone market is getting tougher.
Amidst the debate about the similar designs of Xiaomi and Apple, the most important thing is to provide the best experience for users. Providing more sophisticated features and minimalist designs can attract new and existing consumers. Xiaomi seems to have successfully introduced the latest features while still offering more affordable prices.
