“Reminders of Him” is one of Colleen Hoover's books that really stirs up our emotions, filled with pain, but also with hope. The novel tells the story of Kenna, a woman who has just been released from prison after serving five years for a terrible accident that killed her boyfriend, Scotty. Upon her release, Kenna's only dream is to meet her daughter, Diem, who was born while she was in prison and is now being raised by Scotty's parents.

Here, Hoover really takes us into Kenna's chaotic mind, filled with her lingering guilt, her longing to be a mother, and her heartbreaking loneliness. Through the letters she wrote to Scotty, we can feel the depression that surrounds Kenna, and how deep her loss and regret are.

In terms of plot, Hoover presents the story from two perspectives, those of Kenna and Ledger (Scotty's best friend), allowing us to understand the conflict from both sides. The main themes are redemption, mistakes, second chances, and the courage to face other people's judgments.

This book contains many painful yet beautiful quotes that may drain the reader emotionally. In my opinion, the novel's weakness is that the plot is slow because it tends to focus more on the characters' emotional wounds, and the themes of family and forgiveness feel very heavy to read.

“Reminders of Him” is a very emotional novel, suitable for readers who enjoy stories about sacrifice and second chances. It is not just a romantic story, but the journey of a mother to regain the life that was taken from her.

I dedicate this site as a domain to share thoughts especially in literature field (or perhaps variety). Reviewing book in the first time is like involving my self to the new gate. Salute, here is Sam aka Dimas Hadi Santoso (30802200012) willing to review a fiction novel entitled Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie which consists 17 chapters. A glimpse of James Matthew Barrie—a Scottish novelist, born in Angus, Scotland 1937, and student college at the University of Edinburgh. 

Generally, we are undoubtedly impressed by book's cover, aren't we? Its cover depicts a boy flying away earth or Neverland, shall I say? and there is a ship beneath him, is that his ship? more, there is an opening sounds "all children, except one, grow up" questionable. The story begins by providing us a Mr. Darling family's house in a flat located at 14, London. There live Wendy, John, Michael and Nana (a dog). Out of the blue, their bedroom has guests, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. Wendy and her little brother are welcoming Peter, having chit-chat, until Peter invites them to fly to Neverland. Their adventures happen there, witnessing mermaid, underground house, even pirates. What will they do in Neverland? What role will pirates do? Will they grow up together? 

The parts that still rings in my head are "The Return Home" until "When Wendy Grew Up" after the adventure in Neverland, they have to come back to their lives. Peter and Wendy make an agreement to keep in touch by visiting Wendy's window before spring clean time comes.

Regarding a quote above, I'd like to build the atmosphere with a little bit representation. We can understand that Wendy didn't confess her yearning for seeing Peter. She always hopes that someday Peter will return to meet her. Time flies, year passes, everything changes. Wendy becomes mother, Peter forgets his promises. At very last page, Peter still comes to them, except forgets, continuously person turns another person. There goes a boy who won't grow up. 

This book suits for you who adore in fantasy, adventure, drama, love, and English. A brief love of Peter and Wendy is sweet enough. This novel also brings me back to my elementary classmate used to tell me about Peter Pan. It may relate to us who deny in becoming older and older. We have current age, yet deny to acknowledge it. In addition, you will be eager to read if you are familiar with Tinkerbell.

"The Snow Queen and Other Fairy Tales" is a collection of fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen in the fantasy genre. The main story, The Snow Queen, recounts the adventures of a young girl named Gerda who perseveres to rescue her childhood friend, Kay, who is kidnapped by the Snow Queen, a cold and mysterious ruler who lives in an icy kingdom. Kay is hit by a magical shard of glass from an evil mirror that makes her cold-hearted, and only Gerda's true compassion can save her. Through a journey filled with obstacles, Gerda meets various magical characters who help her in this quest. The various magical characters Gerda meets each represent a different aspect of the human experience. The main themes of “The Snow Queen” are the power of love and friendship. Gerda's unwavering love for Kay drives her to face various challenges, ultimately showing that love can defeat darkness. In addition to “The Snow Queen”, the novel also includes other classic fairy tales such as “The Emperor's New Clothes”, “The Little Match Girl”, and “The Red Shoes”. Each story depicts universal themes such as kindness, sacrifice, loyalty, and the fight against evil and adversity.

I liked this novel because it uses a beautiful and imaginative language style that is easily understood by teenagers but full of meaning for adult readers. In this novel, Andersen skillfully creates a fantasy world that captivates the reader. The novel also utilizes symbolism and metaphors that invite readers to explore the underlying message. The Snow Queen, cold and mysterious, symbolizes the unbridled power of nature and human emotions. Through Gerda's journey, Andersen teaches the importance of courage, perseverance, and compassion in the face of the greatest adversity. Gerda, as the protagonist, is a young heroine who is passionate and tireless in her efforts to save her best friend, presenting an inspiring character model for teenager readers. The stories in this novel offer not only entertainment, but also values that are relevant to everyday life.

However, some stories may feel bleak or tragic to young readers because Andersen adds an element of suffering or sadness to his novels. While this increases the emotional depth of the stories, some young readers may find these stories too heavy or complex.

"The Snow Queen and Other Fairy Tales" by Hans Christian Andersen is a touching and enchanting novel, full of symbolism and deep moral messages. The stories in this novel teach readers not to give in to hardship, stay true to love and truth, and always keep a pure heart. The stories in this novel not only take us into a fantasy world, but also invite us to reflect on ourselves and the world around us. This novel is suitable for teenagers and adults, especially fans of classic fairy tales.

[Book Review] It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Hi bookworms! I just finished reading the last page, and I'm eager to spill the tea! As you have read before, the title is It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, and allow me to inform you that the story was a whole rollercoaster-ride. Get yourself ready and comfy, because this book review will tell u my perception after reading it, and you might gain a new title into your reading list!

So, here is the deal with It Ends With Us - It's like a journey of someone who has trust issue and believe that something might too-good-to-be-true. The story follows Lily Bloom, who got mistreated by her husband, Ryle Kincaid, a charming neurosurgeon 7 years her senior. Ironically, they were truly in love before they got married. I know, I know, it sounds like any other romance book with a heavy conflict, but trust me! This book not only got me the most butterfly effects and kicking-the-air situations, but also one of the most thought-provoking and emotionally intense novel. 

Starting off with the cover, I might assume that someone has a good taste. The title is typed in a massive purple font that easily caught my attention. However, the visual of broken bloom flower also come together. As soon as I noticed, it's kinda give me the hint of how the story will end up. 

The next one is the story line itself that revolves around Lily who finds herself caught between her new love interest, Ryle (that ended up marrying her) and her first love, and also her childhood friend, Atlas Corrigan that appears out of nowhere. Colleen Hoover made this novel explores Lily's past and present, delving into themes of love, abuse, and the cycle of violence.

The weakness I found is lack of realism, especially Atlas' reappearance. Atlas was leaving to Boston years before they finally met again out of nowhere. (Well, since it's a fiction novel). However, it's necessary to know that fiction often needs a degree of suspension of disbelief, and what feels unrealistic to one reader (me) may resonate as truthful to another. 

Nevertheless, I could assume that this novel is relatively light-weight to be a starter for a newbie reader who still in adolescence, since the Colleen Hoover using a simple writing style which is not too complex. 

In conclusion, "It Ends With Us" by Colleen Hoover provides a fascinating emotional journey through Lily Bloom's life, exploring themes of love, abuse, and personal growth. While some plot elements may fade believability, the novel's strength lies in its ability to provoke thought or imagination and stir emotions. With her simple writing style and relatable characters, this book serves as an excellent entry point for young adult readers into more serious literary themes. Despite its flaws, Hoover's novel ultimately delivers a powerful message about breaking cycles of abuse, making it a worthwhile addition to any bookworm's reading list.
