The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry may look like a children's storybook from its cover. Unfortunately, it is not. This book is actually intended for adults who are secretly tired of their own lives, who feel lost, fed up with the same things every day, or who feel they have no reason to continue. It sounds heavy, but this book slowly leads us to realize what we have been feeling inside, especially the inner child that we left behind long ago.
The Little Prince's journey from
one planet to another makes us question what we really wanted, what we were
looking for, and whether we have found it. Or maybe we never even had the
chance to try. Throughout the story, we are shown how everyone can see the same
thing very differently. What seems trivial to us may be the world to someone
else.
One of the most inspiring quotes in
this book is when the narrator writes the words of the Little Prince:
“All men have the stars,” he
answered, “but they are not the same things for different people... But all
these stars are silent. You—you alone—will have the stars as no one else has
them.”
This quote illustrates how everyone
has their own “stars” with different meanings about life, dreams, and loss. For
some people, stars are just small lights in the sky. For others, stars are a
way home, a problem to be solved, or even a valuable treasure. And from this we
can learn that there is no one right way to see the world; there are only
different ways.
In my opinion, this book really
reflects our thoughts and teaches us to consider how someone else might see
something. From there, we become better able to understand other points of view
that we may not have thought of before. This book is suitable not only for
adults, but also for teenagers who are just starting their adult lives so that
they can see that life is not always as simple as our own point of view.
The Little Prince is not just a story about a little prince from an asteroid. This book is a journey to rediscover ourselves, to understand loss, and to rediscover the reasons why we once wanted to dream.
