Breakfast is
the most important meal of the day and has many benefits for our health and
daily performance but is often overlooked. Likewise, eating nutritious food in
the morning not only provides energy for activities, but also makes us more
concentrated and better focused.
The absence of
intake in the morning makes the body lack the energy to move. Various reasons
for skipping breakfast ranging from not having time to not getting used to it.
Even though there are many benefits obtained from breakfast. UGM Nutritionist,
Dr. Mirza Hapsari Sakti Titis Penggalih, S.Gz., M.P.H., RD, explained why
breakfast is important to do. One of them is that breakfast is a source of
energy or a fuel provider for the body for activities during the day.
Mirza also revealed that breakfast is a food that will never be stored in the body as fat because it is used for activity. Thus, for people who want to maintain their weight, there is no need to skip breakfast and worry about gaining weight because of breakfast. This is because skipping breakfast makes hunger levels greater at lunchtime and in the afternoon. Food intake during lunch and afternoon becomes more while activity tends to be reduced or not as dense as in the morning so it will become fat storage.
The absence of
intake in the morning also makes our bodies have energy for activities. This is
also corroborated by research from the International Journal of Gastronomy and
Food that breakfast consumption with balanced nutritious foods will be able to
provide energy in the morning.
Not only that, not having breakfast also causes the body to become easily tired and the mind is difficult to concentrate. Delaying breakfast continuously while on the move will not produce maximum output. Especially for students, without breakfast it will be difficult to receive lessons at school. In addition, breakfast can also maintain ideal body weight. Research results from the National Weight Control Registry state that weight can drop up to 15 kg per year if you regularly eat breakfast.
