Smoking has become one of those habits that many people around the world find difficult to give up, despite its obvious negative health effects. Cigarettes contain more than 4000 types of chemicals harmful to health, and 200 of them are toxic. These include nicotine, carbon monoxide and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons that contain substances that trigger cancer (such as tar, benzopyrenes, vinyl chloride, and nicotine).
According to Dr. Bagas, cigarette smoke that has just died from the ashtray alone contains three times the cancer-triggering ingredients in the air and 50 times the eye and respiratory irritants. Exhaled cigarette smoke can last for two to three hours indoors. Although it looks like the smoke has disappeared, in reality, the smoke is still there and can even stick to objects.
By
understanding how great the risks posed by smoking are, it is time we take a
firm step to quit smoking. Quitting smoking is not only for your own health but
also to protect your loved ones and the environment. Quitting smoking can also
bring about major changes in your life.
Here are some compelling reasons why you should start thinking about quitting smoking for a healthier life.
Reducing the risk of dangerous diseases
The toxic effects of cigarettes make cigarette smokers experience a greater risk (compared to those who do not smoke cigarettes) as follows: 14 times suffer from lung, mouth and throat cancer. 4 times stomach cancer. 2 times bladder/chest cancer 2 times heart attack. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), smoking causes about 8 million deaths each year. This is a huge number, which shows how serious the impact of smoking on human health is. By quitting smoking, you can lower your risk of developing these diseases, and some of the health benefits can be felt within just a few days of quitting.
Saving your family and loved ones
Cigarettes are not only harmful to active smokers, but also to people who are exposed to secondhand smoke. In children, cigarette smoke can cause pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma, ear infections and others. While for adults it causes various types of cancer such as lung cancer and breast cancer, sinus (inflammation of the nose), heart disease, decreased liver function, and decreased sexual function (impotence).
By quitting smoking, you are not only protecting yourself, but also your loved ones. You set a positive example for your family, friends and children who may look up to you. It's a decision that can make a big difference in their well-being.
After quitting smoking, your skin begins to repair itself. Blood vessels return to normal, improving blood circulation, and your skin regains its natural glow. Within a few months, you will notice significant changes, such as brighter and healthier skin.
Healthier finances
By
quitting smoking, you will have more money to spend in healthier and more
productive ways. This is a smart financial decision, while also bringing great
health benefits.
Clean,
healthy and smoke-free air is a human right for everyone so that it requires
willingness, awareness and ability from various parties to familiarize a
healthy lifestyle. Let's live a healthy life without smoking so that we are
healthier. Many people want to quit smoking but only some do it seriously. Quitting
smoking is very difficult for those who are already addicted, but that doesn't
mean it can't be done. To quit smoking, we can start habits that can keep us
away from smoking. First, invite your family members to stop smoking, try to
keep you busy, exercise regularly, eat regularly and if there is a desire or
desire to smoke, replace it with chewing gum.
