An online motorcycle taxi in Makassar City named Seprianus Jaya Pelebangan (33) was arrested by the police for draining Rp36,900,000 from an ATM belonging to a woman named Nurhalija (25). The Biringkanaya Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Suryadi Syamal, said the perpetrator's action of draining the victim's money began when the victim's wallet containing an ATM card and ID card fell around the BTP housing area, on (16/9/2024), at around 22.00 WITA. Suryadi revealed that the victim who lost his wallet then went to the bank to remake the ATM card on Thursday (19/9/2024). "The victim's ATM card PIN uses the victim's date of birth," said Suryadi Syamal, Thursday (17/10/2024).

Faced by the police, the perpetrator admitted to having stolen money in the victim's ATM card. Then the perpetrator made a withdrawal at several BRILINK ATMs using a pin according to the victim's date of birth listed on the ID card." The perpetrator also admitted to taking Rp36,900,000 million in the ATM card for his personal use, using the victim's date of birth as an ATM pin," he said.

Evidence was secured in cash of IDR 5 million (remaining money), one motorcycle and helmet, gold ring, one ATM card, e-KTP, driver's license, two mobile phones and one red T-shirt.
For the actions of the perpetrator and has been determined, the suspect is subject to article 362 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with the threat of a maximum prison sentence of 5 years and a fine of Rp900 thousand. Meanwhile, the perpetrator has been secured at the Biringkanaya Police Station to account for his actions.
