Reviving the Spirit of Education: A Call to Embrace Lifelong Learning in Indonesia
Reviving the Spirit of Education: A Call to Embrace Lifelong Learning in Indonesia
Education is the cornerstone of a nation’s progress, shaping the future and equipping individuals with the skills necessary for success. In Indonesia, the journey toward a more robust educational framework is underway, yet there is a pressing need for all citizens to embrace the ethos of lifelong learning. This commitment to continuous education is not only beneficial for personal growth but essential for our nation's competitiveness on the global stage.
Changing Landscape of Knowledge
The world is evolving at an unprecedented pace, with advancements in technology and changes in job markets. Traditional education alone cannot prepare us for the dynamic demands of today’s workforce. Lifelong learning offers a solution, allowing individuals to adapt to new skills and knowledge that are crucial for career advancement. By fostering a culture of continuous learning, we empower ourselves and our communities to thrive in this changing landscape.
Access to Resources
In recent years, Indonesia has made significant strides in improving access to educational resources. The rise of online learning platforms and community education programs has made it easier than ever for individuals to engage in personal and professional development. From online courses to workshops, the options available cater to various interests and schedules. This accessibility opens the door for everyone, regardless of age or background, to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Role of Educators and Institutions
Educators and institutions play a vital role in promoting lifelong learning. By creating engaging curricula that emphasize critical thinking and real-world applications, schools and universities can inspire students to become curious, self-directed learners. Furthermore, partnerships between educational institutions and industries can provide practical learning experiences, preparing students for future careers while encouraging a culture of continuous growth.
Community Engagement
Community involvement is crucial in fostering a culture of lifelong learning. Local organizations can host seminars, workshops, and discussion forums that encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration. By bringing together diverse voices and experiences, we can create an enriching learning environment that benefits everyone. Community leaders should champion initiatives that highlight the importance of education and provide opportunities for learning at all stages of life.
Embracing the Future Together
While the path to a culture of lifelong learning is not without challenges, it is a journey worth embarking on. By committing to continuous education, we not only enhance our personal lives but also contribute to a more skilled, innovative, and competitive workforce in Indonesia. The collective effort of individuals, educators, and communities is vital to shaping an educational landscape that values growth and adaptability.
Let us unite to cultivate a spirit of lifelong learning across the archipelago. By investing in ourselves and our communities, we pave the way for a brighter future. Together, we can transform Indonesia into a nation where knowledge is cherished, and education is a lifelong pursuit. The time to act is now—let's embrace learning and drive our nation forward!

Every day, we use various plastic products without realizing their impact on the environment. From drink bottles, shopping bags, to food packaging, plastic has become part of everyday life. However, behind its convenience, plastic waste poses a big threat to the environment and life on earth.
Why is Plastic Waste Dangerous?
Plastic takes hundreds to thousands of years to decompose in nature. According to data from the World Economic Forum, it is estimated that by 2050, the amount of plastic in the ocean could exceed the number of fish if plastic production continues to increase. Not only that, plastic particles that decompose into microplastics can enter the food chain, endangering human health.
Steps to Reduce Plastic Waste
1.Use environmentally friendly shopping bagsO
ne of the easiest ways is to bring a shopping bag that can be used repeatedly. In this way, we can reduce the demand for single-use plastic bags.
2.Avoid Disposable Products
Single-use products such as plastic straws, spoons and forks can be replaced with more environmentally friendly utensils. Alternatives such as stainless steel or bamboo straws, as well as wooden cutlery, can help reduce plastic waste.
3.Supports Recycled Products
Purchasing products made from recycled materials is another way to support reducing plastic waste. In addition to helping reduce the amount of new plastic, recycled products are also often more environmentally friendly in their production processes.
4.Environmental Education and Awareness
Education about the dangers of plastic waste needs to be improved, both in schools, homes and workplaces. This collective awareness will help build new, more environmentally friendly habits.
Our pole in protecting the environment every small step we take to reduce the use of plastic will contribute greatly to environmental conservation.

Staring at phone screen has been a habitual to us. We type and scroll through social media, view and watch friend’s stories, connect and interact with long distance mates. Regarding connecting and interacting with long distance mates, the habit becomes unpleasant toward our real life situation namely, phubbing.
Based on psychologytoday.com these are ways to react a phubber😉📱
“Do you need me to wait until you take care of that?”
“Do you need me to reschedule?” I'll need feedback on some of the things I have to cover, and it looks like you have something important to check.”
“It looks like there is something important you need to attend to. I can come back later, or we can talk at another time if this is inconvenient.”
We hereby realize that sadly phubbing becomes a normalized habit which is risky to lower your conversation flow, relationship quality, and trust. Moreover, if someone has already invite you to be their listener in pouring out their stories yet you carelessly pay attention to, your reputation will turn into a dismissive person who is always distracted by phone.
