Semarang,
October 28, 2025 – Flooding that has inundated Jl. Pantura Kaligawe Raya, Kota
Semarang, for more than a week has severaly impacted the supply of clean water
and refill gallon water in the area. Resident around the affected zone are now
struggling to obtain clean water as usual.
One of those
affected is Mrs. Aisyah(50), a business owner depon on Jl. Kaligawe Raya. She
explained that during the first blood, her business was still running smoothly
without major obstacles. However, the second flood, which caused water levels
to reach knee height, damaged two water machines at her depot due to
submersion.
“Before the
floodwaters rose further, I had anticipated by filling 30 empty gallons so I
would have a stock of clean water to sell to neighbors” Mrs. Aisyah said.
Unfortunately,
the damaged water machines forced her to halt operations for two days for
repairs, which required considerable expense. Moreover, delivery trucks from
the main supplier could not risk entering the flooded roads, leading to a
five-day disruption in water supply to the depot.
“Although
customer demand increased during the floods, we still couldn’t deliver water to
the community because of the worsening flood conditions,” she added.
Mrs. Aisyah
hopes the Semarang city government can accelerate flood management to prevent
economic disruption and ensure clean water supply is not affected.
This situation highlights the urgent need for preparedness and fast response to flooding disasters to minimize impacts on daily life.
