The long dry season in Genuk, Semarang, makes life hard for many local people. The hot weather and lack of rain do not only cause physical discomfort, but also make people tired and stressed in their daily lives.

Lutfiana, a university student living in Genuk, said that Genuk is usually hot. However, this year feels much worse because rain has not fallen for a long time. The extreme heat during the day makes it very uncomfortable for people to do their daily activities. As explained by Lutfiana:

The severe heat has also influenced the emotional state and behavior of residents on the road. Navigating through the scorching weather increases frustration, leading to higher tension among commuters. Furthermore, it has restricted outdoor recreational activities that residents usually rely on to unwind. As stated by Lutfiana:

"Jelas, apalagi siang-siang naik motor.

"Definitely, especially riding a motorcycle during midday. Everyone wants to get to their destination quickly, so they end up driving a bit recklessly. Riding a bike myself, I also get annoyed when people drive recklessly. My daily activities are also affected; I usually enjoy cycling, but lately, it feels scorching early in the morning, so I choose to go back to sleep instead."

Although the heat presents daily challenges, residents are coping by adjusting their sleep schedules, staying hydrated, and avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours. However, high hopes remain for the rainy season to arrive soon to bring relief and restore water supplies in affected households. As Lutfiana concluded, the most anticipated solution is a heavy downpour to cool down the environment and help those facing water shortages.
